Zen Writer

Privacy Policy

Effective 14 July 2026

Zen Writer is an offline-first screenplay writing application. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Your screenplays and files

Screenplays, project details, characters, preferences, and edit history are stored locally on your device. Zen Writer does not upload this writing to a developer-operated server. Files are accessed only when you choose to import them. Exports leave the app only when you choose a destination through Android's system share interface.

Accounts and purchases

The current Android version does not require an account and does not offer in-app purchases. All writing features are available without providing personal or payment information.

Support communications

If you email support, we receive the email address and information you choose to include. We use it only to respond to your request and retain it only as reasonably necessary for support, security, and legal obligations.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed only when required by law or necessary to protect users, the app, or legal rights.

Security and retention

Local screenplay data remains on your device until you delete projects, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Support email is handled by the email providers used by you and Zen Writer and is retained only as reasonably necessary to respond and meet legal obligations.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can delete local projects in the app and remove remaining local data by clearing Zen Writer's storage or uninstalling it. To request deletion of support communications, contact us at whimfactory11@gmail.com.

Children

Zen Writer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
